Please! Really important ...

Please, please, please ... read this, it's really important.

Straight to the point -- Stroud FM needs to know how many people are tuning in and listening ... I'm sure you realise how important this is to a local community radio station like ours which relies so totally on a mix of income.

And all we are asking is that you spend a few moments on a short online questionnaire.

It's on our web page at stroudfm.co.uk and at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2C2ZBY5.

There is even -- though, heaven forbid, I'm sure you Art Lot listeners don't need a carrot -- a prize draw incentive: shopping vouchers worth £25; free tickets for a Forest Green Rovers match; or a bottle of best Stroud FM wine.

What we want to know is who listens in to what …

What do you like to listen to? Don’t like? And, what you would like to hear on your local airwaves that isn't there already.

Like I said, it's on our web page at stroudfm.co.uk and at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2C2ZBY5.

Did you know that all of Stroud FM’s presenters are volunteers…members of Joe and Josephine Public just like you? The brilliant yet small Stroud FM team trained us up and keeps a weather eye on our programmes .

The team also goes into schools and community venues delivering tailor-made radio-skills courses. And the station also offers work experience to school-pupils as well as work placements to people who are long-term unemployed.

Haven't you clicked on yet? It's on our web page at stroudfm.co.uk and at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2C2ZBY5.

All this and with no fixed funding. How do we do it? Well, we rely on a mixture of grants, advertisements from local business and income from the courses we run.

Which is why it's so important to know who our listeners are.

Come on! Do it! Please! It's on our web page at stroudfm.co.uk and at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2C2ZBY5.

By the way, while you are at it, take a look at the courses which Stroud FM offers ... you might fancy one yourself, or you might know someone who would really enjoy learning about how to present a radio programme.

For info on how to join a course, e-mail radio@stroudfm.co.uk .

Thank you to reading this ... and thank you, in anticipation, for doing the survey -- oh, and while I'm asking, can you think of three friends you could e-mail this on to? Please!

Wednesday

Art Lot went aroaming a day late [technical probs - my fault!] today Wed October 20...so if you missed these great on-site interviews, fear not…it is repeated this Sunday Oct 24 at 3pm.

I went to Stroud’s Museum in the Park to see a stunning exhibition of abstract art.

Six artists in all are showing together there in an exhibition called Crossings; they are Noela Bewry, Terry Cripps, Marianne Hellwig John, Penny Prince, Sue Rae and Maggie Shaw.

Four of the six artists walk and talked me through their work, giving insights into their work, and their passion for what they do…you must must must listen in:

Tune in again! 107.9FM locally, or from http://www.stroudfm.co.uk/ anywhere in the world!

The exhibition closes on October 31…so get down there asap…as a representation of all things currently contemporary, it’s got everything…go, go, go!

AND...

My play, Sunset Stripped, played, as they say, to a packed house at the Everyman Studio Theatre, Cheltenham, last Friday.

What a fantastic experience – to work with the director and actors all day and then to see my characters, who up ‘til then had only been in my head, to see them come alive…fantastic! Many thanks to The Everyman, and to Paul Milton, the Director of Outreach there for a great opportunity.

After the show there was a feedback session…and what great feedback I had.

Thanks to all involved! Brilliant!

The director was the inimitable Bill Cronshaw (of Dreamshed Theatre fame), and the superb actors were Jilly Breeze as Ann (on the frying pan); the butter-wouldn't-melt  Nicola Daniels as Eida; that brute Jonathan Legg as Pieter; and the irrepressible Chris Ilston as Edward...

Costumes and set were by the stylish Hayley Spicer; with lighting-genius Craig Rogers in the crow's nest.

A very big thank-you to you all!
